    Default blown Motor

Hi,1st post here, been reading through and some GREAT advise and info on this site.Own a mint 27 Fountain Fever,502efi,3 weeks ago I ran through a debri field to avoid a Tacking sailboat!! Didn't here any thing but upon exiting the crap in the water,, engine overreved[split second]and sucked all valves.Brand new stainless Merc prop ,,,hub released, saved the outdrive but not motor.Chunk of glass out of keel and paint chunk missing from brand new paint job on out drive,no visual damage to prop. Here lies the problem,,,,Insurance company is DENYING my claim, because no damage to prop.Question:::: is it possible that this can happen? and how can I prove to them that tthis can occur as they said if you can prove it ,,we will pay for a new motor.Suggestions?????,,,Thanks

Ya want to buy a crapped out prop? I make ya gooood deal
Sucked ALL the valves? While it might be difficult to explain damage to every one of them.....between whoever towed you in should have seen whatever you actually hit and an explanation by a certified tech about how it could have happened, you should have it covered.
I am in the middle of a homeowners claim myself....the first thing i learned
is 'the insurance company is not my friend'.

As for your explanation....even if your prop had damage.....what could you have hit IN the water that would allow to motor to over rev.? Unless you
somehow managed to get the boat out of the water.....

And not to give you a hard time but....what were you doing so close to an un-powered boat at a high enough throttle setting that it took 'a split
second' for the motor to over rev enough to cause what sounds to be a catastrophic failure? And no rev limiter? And i could see..... maybe.....overeving hard enough to float a valve....if you didn't have a rev. lim. and maybe....breaking one valve...and maybe taking a piston/rod with it....
but at that point the motor is in a 'all hell breaking loose' mode and will begin to loose rpm even unloaded.

And you did ask... 'is it possible that this can happen?' alright....who did ya let borrow your boat? is that the story they told ya sure sounds like
your buddy was runnin with the hammer down and caught some 'sailing wake board boat' rollers, got some air and spun the motor past it's safe operating range.....Happens to me all the time..out jumping them wake board boat wakes with my hydro (RIP) get a little to much air and that
motor will go from 5k to 6.5k before i can get off the gas...good thing i have olds motor...they never break

Default Miami - Key West Poker Run

Hello-Hello I am back in town! Thanks for the post. The Miami Key West Poker run was awesome. A lot of boats out to play and the weather was great! We then Tested a few Boats for the magazine, then headed to the World Finals in the Keys. It was a good time and it seemed a bit more people out to watch. Hopefully that means something for the economy or ?
