Cam break in oil ?

Hello, This is ALEXI, You can use the straight 50 if your engine oil pump rod is strong enough (Hardened) We use 20-50 Lucas break in oil with a high Zinc content. The extra Zinc helps lube and protect misc wearing parts in the engine. These break in oils are great, however they do not have much detergents in them. This is why I would prefer you run it in for a few hours, then swap it our to a good oil for perm use.
We usually use our Dyno for break in at about a 10% load with rpm oscillations from 2450-4500. If you do not have a dyno, you can do the same thing without a load and maybe run it around the lake under light load and vary the rpm around. We then remove oil and filter, cut the oil filter to review wear in. When you cut the oil filter, do not be surprised if you see a bit of fine metalic in the oil. If the next time you change the oil and it is not gone or less--then worry. Thanks
