After following your advice on running it out and changing the filter we put a few gallons of race in each side and then ran it dry and changed the filter and juiced it up with a few gallons of race and 91 to the brim.
Look at this little thing shit and get...This was Chris Jr and his buddy. I was there that day, but was lucky enough to have lots of "assistance" swapping props. (I love watching other poeple enjoy my toys for some reason)

We need to go bolt on bigger props as it pulled every wheel we bolted to it to 6K - and held it for as long as you kept your foot in it.
It blew through the 25 in a flash, pegged the 26, and pegged the 4 blade 28. I think it can pull a 4blade 30 or a 5 blade 27/28.
This speed master lower unit cost me a few MPH for sure and I may swap it out with my Imco unit.
The boat is running basically ice cold now (it will likely warm up a bit this summer in Havasu) with the mods you did on the cooling - it never ran hot before, but it certainly doesn't now and I think the oil is running even cooler than before.
After standing on it for 2-3 minutes straight I only saw 140 on the oil temp gauge.
Water never topped 100 which I imagine will help quell any detonation.

I dont see many pump gas, naturally aspirated, small block boats running 90. (to be honest I cant find one but Im sure there are a few here and there)
Nice work again sir, work has kept me off the lake an ocean most of tis summer, but I have a better fall planned.
