Default how to play my music threw my ipod threw my stereo.

Ok I have 1 set of rca jacks on back of my cd player and I'm using it for my amp is there any other way I can hook up ipod wire to listen threw cd player I don't wanna use fm mod. And cd player doesn't have aux. In front. I have seen the rca jacks that plug into 1 color and makes it 2 could I do that to both of them that way I can use amp and ipod. Will this work.

I currently have a Sony head-unit in the boat that has an aux in the front and ALSO has 1gb of space inside the faceplate. Basically, you take the face off, walk into the house, plug it in USB to wherever you store your music, and drag off MP3 files onto the face like a thumbdrive. It doesn't take long to fill 1g, though.

That being said, you can't buy that unit anymore. It also runs the 10-disc changer inside and has the XM/Sirius module. So, four or so years ago, it was the shit. Now I don't use the XM anymore and just play CDs through it and the changer. It does NOT have ipod integration, so I am thinking of going a different route now:

Sony just came out with a few head units that are BLUTOOTH connection for music. So, you set your device to look for it's signal, pair it, and then control your music from you hand-held source device (ipod, iphone, android, whathaveyou). I am going to switch to this as I have gone from iPhone to Android. All I will hard-wire into the system is a few 12V power plugs through the boat for people to plug in their charger devices. Then, the phones / player will just send music to the head unit via BT. I also like this version because we are constantly tied-up to at LEAST one more boat. So anyone can pair to the unit (at a time) and play their music as well. Sure seems win-win-win to me.

The added bonus is - the top of the line one (single-din versions, anyway) has 4V RCA outputs instead of standard 2V. The higher the output V, the clearer the sound is when it gets to the amp(s). I typically run a line-driver to get the final outputs to 10 or 13V, but the higher the source voltage going INTO the line-driver.....the better.

Ok it sounds like your head unit does not have an Aux input on it. There really is no way to play your Ipod thru the head unit without a modulator. You could just unplug the RCA's from the radio and get a 1/8" stereo to RCA adaptor and play the Ipod direct into the amp. This will only work if all speakers are run off the amp. If the head unit is driving any of them then no sound.

I would upgrade the head unit to something that has an Ipod hookup or and aux input.

Thats all well and good. Most amps these days are 4V input. Sending 10 - 13V is just over driving the input of the amp, and thats no good either.

Makes no difference, or so I have experienced. My first amps were 0-2V inputs but had 10 thrown to them from my Eclipse setup. Never a problem for 8 years - then sold the vehicle.

    That's the easiest way.
