    Default 6.5 inch subwoofers?

I have a 26' JC pontoon boat that really only has room for 6.5's all free air. I tried a 10" MB quart marine sub in rear L seating behind the driver but the sound did not carry to the front benches. I currently also have 4 MB Quart NKD 116 and a clarion 4x80 and 2x80 for the sub. I also have 4 more NKD 116's to install and was gonna replace the clarion amps with 2 pdx 4.150. Was thinking about having 6 in the front benchs and 2 in the rear L but now considering 4 and 4 with maybe 2 6.5 inch subs in front any thoughts anyone? Thanks in advance and wondered where everyone from HB had went.

you can pick these up at partsexpress for dirt cheap (other searches for tang band will get you some hits). holding up to the element long in the term would be highly questionable. I've heard their 7" (?) sub in a convertible and those funky little things were surprising, amusing to a certain degree. There are several other small subs out there (ie. JL, mb 7", etc.)

Can you mount any of the 6.5 subs screwed into the front of the seatbase and build a enclosure inside the seat, or will these work free air?

they need an enclosure, but very small.
if your willing to loose a little storage, the front console is a great place to put a box with a 12" sub inside and vent the door.

A line that I represent (DLS) makes a 6 1/2" sub that comes in a package of 2 with a port already cut to length. They do require a 0.5 cubic foot enclosure for the pair.

The JL 6 1/2 subs are good too. Just never heard them ported yet.

We ran 4 6.5 JL subs behind the bask seat in a truck with excellent success. I'd be willing to try them in a boat knowing that I was only looking to enhance lower frequency output. A single 10 may work for you, though...

Do these subs have to be mounted in the base of the seat or could the enclosure be mounted about 4 inches back? Problem is there is a 2inch x 2 inch lip at the base which only gives me 8 inches of height at the front. If I could move back 4 inches I have 10 inches of height and 17 inches of depth. This would allow 2 8w7's sealed or 3 8w3's sealed or ported or 4 6w3's sealed. Also should these all front fire or could i side fire one behind the driver's seat. I assume I would cut out and install grilles in the seat bases in front of each enclosure. Any thoughts anyone ? thanks for the previous responses.

If you are in the Lake Havasu area, i would be glad to meet you somewhere to look at your boat, take a few measurments, and give you the best options for getting the most bass in the space you have to work with.
