Default Optima or Die Hard Platinum?

Have blue top now, looking at Platinum anyone have any experience? Platinum's made by same Co. that makes Odyssey (Enersys), plus 36 month warr and SEARS is everywhere.

    Not the same battery.

    Platinum group 34: 880 cc amps w/ 68 hours reserve at 20amps.

    Oddyssey (1500) group 34: 1500 cc amps w/ 135 hours reserve at 25 amps.

Not saying that the Platinum is a bad battery, just not the same. You get what you pay for.

Yes Odyssey or Kinetik batteries are the way to go. They also hold there charge better during the off season.

Bought a new 31m optma blue top and it has 1125 cc amps and 155 reserve hours. Cheaper than my last oddyssey and it lasted 4 years.

I'm running the Sears Platinums, but the big ones. I have a modest (by these standards) stereo. I've had very good luck with them. I'm running 2 JBL 1000w amps and one 500w Kenwood. I can float for 3 hours running the stereo on one battery, and still start the boat. The 36 month warranty is not pro rated etiher, it's straight replacement. They're heavy mothers though.

I think you misread the specs. Although there may be some other differences, at least from a specs standpoint, I don't see any difference between the two.

What got me curious (and how I found this thread to begin with) was that I found a press release by Enersys (the company that makes Odysseys) announcing a deal with Sears for their Platinum batteries. I didn't see anything regarding DieHard Gold, which is a totally different architecture.

    The DieHard Platinum specs are:
Platinum group 34: 880 cc amps w/ 68 hours reserve at 20amps, 135 minutes reserve

    The Odyssey 1500 specs are:
    Odyssey group 78: 880 cc amps w/ 68 hours reserve at 20amps, 135 minutes reserve http://www.odysseyfactory.com/batterysearch.asp

Don't know what the siggnificance in the group sizes are. When I called Sears, they said the specs are the same as the web site, but I noticed Sears reports about 4 lbs more weight than the Odyssey site (which could include shipping or some other variable).
