Default What do you think of this Kicker setup?

I have a 28ft cat closedbow, I am puting in a Alpine deck with a Ipod hookup, 1 Kicker 1000.1 amp running to 2 L7 speakers for bass in two built in fiberglass boxes under rear seat ( had a new rear seat base made), 1 Kicker 650.4 amp running 2 sets of Kicker KM625.2 Component Speaker install at the driver/pass. seat and also at the rear bench, and also a pair of Kicker KB6000 full range box speakers for under the hatch. I want to install a built in charger that will work with a Honda 1000 generator, Who makes a good one for the money??? Also I will need two batterys should I go with Odyssey or Optima??? Frank

Personally, I've always been a fan of the Kicker gear. From the looks of it, that should be a great setup. I've got a 650.4 running those same components in my truck, along with a 600.1 running 4 10's behind the seat, and they've run and run and run and sound great doing it.

Hit up BoatFloating, or PhatMatt on the boards as they were running the little Honda generators, and I want to say a Cascade charging system with it.

I think this setup will sound good also, I been using Kicker stuff for years and never had any bad luck so far. I have read 100's of Thread on batterys and I think I am going to run Odessey but still not sure wanted to get more input. Also I have never use a built in charger and been told if I use the HONDA to make sure it works with it and also it should be 40 amp?????

Like I said, I'd check with Rocky (BoatFloating) and PhatMatt as they have some pretty amazing stereos and have had great luck with the Honda setup, though I'm not sure what size they ran.

I'd figure out what charger you want to go with, spec out its' max amp draw and then go from there. Or if you have the generator already, figure out what it will put out on the max side, then knock about 20% off of it for heat derating if it will be running in a closed engine compartment in the Havasu heat, and size the charger from there. You're always better off with too much generator.

IMO the system will sound good with the right speaker placement. As high as poss.Dont think you are going to need the Honda and power supply. Two stinger or odyssey 2150,s should do the trick. If you do go that route though I would get at least a cascade APS75 or APS90 power supply with a 2150 batt as buffer. You would play as long as you had gas.Is kinda kool to start up a stereo system.Matt went with the 90 if I remember right. He has a much larger system than the one you are planning.Ps.L7s pound check out crackwhore (Mr&Mrsrvrluvr). Also a genny system

Do you think 2 2150 should last the whole day 5 to 6 hours play time? I want the built in charger so at night I can just plug it in and not have to mess with hookin up a charger all the time. I do have a Honda 1000 that I want to hook up just in case any of my batterys do go dead......put if I do use the Honda should I still get 2 batterys fot the system and 1 for starting or 1 for the system and 1 for starting? with that audio gear you should at least get 5 hours of play time from each 2150, as long as they are fresh off the charger when you go out. tryin to recharge with the genny once you run them down will be the week link. if you want to last longer have the genny runnin with a cascade power supply when you first start playin the stereo. one more thing, the honda 1000 genny will only run up to a 55 amp power supply, ie cascade aps55. but deffinetly use two 2150's on a dual battery perko switch, always run identical batteries so you wont have problems.

Ok, So I should run two 2150's for the stereo and one Battery for starting for a total of three batterys. The Honda genny and a 55amp charger is it a good setup? The charger I want built in so at night all I have to do is plug it in to charge the batterys will this setup fully charge them overnite? So if I run the genny for the first couple hours of play time that will help the batterys from going dead and should last all day bumpin? What charger would be the best bang for the money and work the best with the Honda genny and two 2150's?

DaBank Ok, So I should run two 2150's for the stereo and one Battery for starting for a total of three batterys.
Yes (i like the the 2 perco setup) this would be a good setup. If all day bumpin for you is 6 hours you should have no problems. As long as they are fully charged like JP said.

The Honda genny and a 55amp charger is it a good setup?
All the cascades we are refering to are not really battery chargers but power supplies.(full output at all times)would not want it plugged in overnight.
For that you would need a smart charger that would cycle as needed like the
odyssey tmax25 or any marine agm/gell smart charger.Installed in the boat so you could plug it in as long as there is an outlet handy.
You could run your genny and plug it in there at anytime but shoulnt be necessary with your system.
to recharge with the genny once you run them down will be the week link
Most times genny systems are set up to run at all times the stereo is being played.(full output at all times)
IMO you should start with just the 2150,s for the stereo and a good marine agm/gell smart charger. You can always go to a full genny system if you find you need it.(dont think you will)
    Rock on

What brand charger should I get? How many amp one should I get? And should I get a 2 bank or a three bank that would also charge my starting battery?

Why not use the IOTA chargers. they have multi rate charging with the built in module or the plug in one. I have a 75 amp and 55 amp one in my boat. I run 2 odysseys and 2 Stinger batteries.
