    Default AMP.... power requirements ???

    POWER QUESTION.....

doing the stereo in the Teryx soon.... Have a 10" JBL sub and four Fo-cal 6.5 two ways. in SVS pods.

would a Alpine PDX 600 5 channel be enough ? Which is 75w per chan and 300w at the sub.

    OR do a
    600w PDX mono &
    600 4way Pdx.

I know the seperate amps would be better and cleaner.....but twice the money.

    THANKS for you input.

Put an alternator kit in that thing and run some big power.

what impedance is the JBL sub? single 4 ohm, dual 4 ohm, dual 2 ohm, etc?

Im not sure that it really matters? If I remember right that amp puts out the same power at 2 or 4 ohms doesnt it?

Sound like a real nice simple setup, should sound good.

well it does matter some amps can burn or over heat at 2 ohm's So look into it! now if you have DV subs and they are 4 ohm's you can drop to 2 ohm's and get the most power out of the amp as long as it's stable at 2 ohm's. Is your amp rated 600 watts RMS or peak power and how much power does your sub can handle? You may want to see what amount of power your sub needs so you don't over spend by getting an amp that is over powered for your sub

Oh by the way you do get more power out of the amp by lowering the ohm's on your subs as log as your amp can support the load. That's why they make DV coil subs

LOL!! Too funny. I wasnt trying to be harsh or anything if thats the way I came off I appologyse. (SP?)

The PDX amps are not some junk that would rate there power in MAX or overheat from a 2 ohm load, but you allready new that.
Like I stated before. The amp he's looking at doesnt care if its a 2 or 4 ohm load. It puts out the same power either way.

So unlike most amps you WONT get anymore power out of this one by lowering the impedence. Here why dont YOU look into it LOL.

    Default here are the spec's

here is the specs on the sub..

    Subwoofers
    Power Series
    P1024
    10" (250mm) Plus OneŽ Dual-Voice-Coil Subwoofer

Plus One (patent pending) woofer cones - JBL has taken its incredbile Plus One cone technology into the world of subwoofers. Each Power Series sub features more cone area than that found on competing subwoofers of the same size. This increase in cone area delivers an audible increase in bass output and efficiency.

Stitched-in tinsel leads are used to greatly enhance reliability and eliminate audible tinsel lead slap.

Kevlar-impregnated paper woofer cones - This combination has been chosen for its high strength-to-weight ratio, and is formed using a proprietary manufacturing process. Besides improved transient response, this cone adds stiffness to relieve stress concentrations that may accumulate at the base of the cone under high power and high-pressure applications.

The JBL P1024 features a proprietary die-cast frame that ensures that the motor structure stays centered in the voice-coil gap, ensuring long-term reliability and durability.

That sub will be a little underpowered but should sound nice. Make sure you wire the voice coils parallel for 2 ohms. Wiring in series would give you 8 ohms and alot less power plus im not sure how that amp would do at 8 ohms?

You might want to reread, the amp is a PDX, puts out the same power 4ohm or 2ohm.

Should be fine with that amp running everything.

I agree, or the JL Audio HD stuff. Ohm load doesn't determine the power output on these amps. They also use less power and are more efficient.

Toby I would seriously consider the 5 channel PDX-5 amp. It will do everything you want under a small footprint. It may be a little pricey, but it's less money than 2 amps.

JL also has an HD 5 channel amp that I believe is 75x4 plus 500/1. It's not on their website, but I got it in my dealer literature and it's supposed to release any day now.
