    Default Ipod/iphone

I have an old Manx buggy that we drive everywhere in the summer.

My buggy lacks a lot of room but i would like to have some tunes.

What do you think about hooking up an IPHONE directly to amp and run two 61/2 speakers. I thinking the IPHONE, because it has GPS, Internet radio and ITunes.

My dash board does not have a lot of room, but I can tuck a head unit away and use a remote switch to run it also.

    What do you guys think?

    Mike

Sounds like a good idea to me...and if you need to put in a head unit at least you'll have a nice amp to drive it!

I have been thinking of doing the same thing in my Rhino. Someone had told me to use a line driver between the Ipod and amp though. I have amps laying around and don't want to mount a head unit, and just a couple of 6.5"s will work fine.

Yes, it works great! I have this setup in my boat, and have also had my jeep setup this way at one point.

I use a RCA headphone jack to Normal RCA cable, and just hook the mp3 player directly to the amps. I use a splitter to get teh signal to both amps, as neither of my amps has a line out RCA.

I use a Dell DJ usually, but it works fine with my IPhone as well.

Then I use the built in equalizer in the mp3 player to do what I want. I have 2 amps, one is a 4ch for the 6x9's, the other is a mono for the bazooka. I use the built in HPF/LPF on the amps instead of using crossovers.

For a cheap simple system, it sounds great!!!!

I'm running a simple system in my boat. It consists of a waterproof Poly Planar amp, speakers, and any input device that has a simple headphone out jack. iPod, phone, XM radio, etc. The nice thing about this particular AMP is it has its own remote mounted waterproof volume control knob that doubles as an ON-OFF switch. I bought it online for about 1/2 of what Crutchfield has it listed for. It's very small and lightweight but it lacks the output to drive anything but a relatively mild system. For a Manx I think it'd be pretty close to perfect.
