something with a plastic cone is cheap. if the speakers will be exposed to alot of sun get some kevlar ones. if you can find some full mesh grills that will help with protection from uv and also add some water protection.

kicker makes a really good component set with crossovers, and for a good set that wont break the bank go with a sony 3way set. the kickers are the way to go and there not crazy high priced either. heres a set for 100 bucks..on tigerdirect.com hope this helps and the site i put on here has a ton of deals...

I got the enrty level components from Focal. They are awesome, but alittle expensive. Crutchfield is now selling them

I just installed a pair of infinity 612ms that rock. Check out Crutchfield. I have them hooked up with a 600 watt amp. Not bad price either.

JL Marine is what I run. A little more $$$ but money well spent.

Right now at Sonicelectronix or onlinecarstereo.com you can get the alpine marine 6.5's for 59 a set or the 7's for 95...that is a smoking deal....particularly when you will pay 3 times as much for JL...the mark up is just not worth it....particularly if you are just putting in 4-6 speakers and mild power.

JL depends on the model: 7.7's put out some sound but also cost $$. I would figure a budget and start from there.

Yes some are a little pricey but some are as low as $89.00 a set.

    For 1" tweeters? lol.

Don't forget Polk, they are marine grade and pretty cheap. I run the db series behind a good amp and they sound pretty good.

Today I just purchased a 4 of the Alpine 7's using the $20 coupon off for over $250 as I picked up an Alpine 10" as well...all for 279 (free shipping)....no one on ebay was close..heck I got 5 speakers for the cost of one set of JL 7.7's...that's plain crazy...

I just put 4 JL's in my boat and they sound great. I have all JL in my other boat, 14 in all and it rocks. You get what you pay for!
