Default Why? its a simple question

Why do almost all of the other stereo shops consistently mix and match audio brands to build a system? I understand that there are only a few radio manufacturers out there that build good radios but why the alpine amps with JL woofers and focal highs and so on and so on. Did anyone ever stop to think that audio manufacturers design and test their products with THEIR PRODUCTS! If you honestly want to get the best possible sound from your system choose a good brand and match everything up. To design and build a CUSTOM stereo system is to actually take some time and think it out not just pull last months blowouts off your shelf and throw it together!

Sorry I needed to rant! I just don't understand, when I build a system I Design it first and ORDER all of the parts per my design! Therefor I can use any brand that my customer wants and build a system, not just throw something together.

Does it really make that much of a difference? Seems like a woofer is a woofer and 6x9 is a 6x9. I dont know though...is it usually a problem?

I would say using all of 1 brand for the entire system is more GENERIC than custom. In some installs its nice for everything to match but in most cases and especially with my personal systems, I want the best of everything and there isnt a single manufacturer out there that makes the best of each type of component across the board. I would say that the only ones that are anywhere close would be Audison or Digital Designs.

In my opinion the perfect system (without going ultra high end) would be....
    Sony head unit
    Alpine remotes
    Audison amps
    Hertz speakers
    Digital Designs subs
....which is exactly what I have in my boat minus the Alpine remotes.

But I do agree 100% with designing the system correctly and only using whats perfect for the customer and not just talking them into whatever excess you have in stock.

Just like you said that is YOUR Opinion, Now as for the Necessity of the Bullshit sticker i think that was a little childish. You are rite about most companies do not carry a full line of products that could sufficiently build a complete system. I also agree with your decision to run audison and hertz products. They are (As you know) manufactured by the same company. As far as the DD thats personal preference, and sony does make nice head units but i dont prefer them! I even built a car for Sony a few years back and i just never fell in love with them. I think that in the end every system is going to be built by personal preference and to each his own, I am going to keep building systems the way i like them just like you build your systems the way you like them. The people on this forum speak very highly of you and your work and that says alot!

Honestly i was hammered last night when i wrote that and had just gotten finished rebuilding a system that another so cal shop had installed that was mix and match central! Nitro/ Ma audio/ performance technique and every other piece of crap available.

Thanks for the welcome! and honestly i havent had the opportunity to work with DD woofers yet. I do know that alot of people rave about them. I have done a little competing here and there but most of my work has been full custom jobs for high end clientele, professional athletes and celebs. I even built a car that was in the sony catalog a few years back. I worked for a couple shops for a few years and have been building custom stuff on my own for the past 3. I just like to try and stay ahead of the curve and I always build it rite! Its nice to meet other installers that do good work ( it dosent happen often)

I really think alot of it is personal preference. Also all of our ears hear differently so what sounds good to me might not sound so good to the next guy. I do agree that you get what you pay for, you buy crap and it will sound like crap
