Default JL Audio free air subs

I've got a freind that is looking at running 4 of the 10" JL Audio free air subs because 2 different stereo shops told him to use them, but neither one of us have ever heard them. Are any of you guys running them? What do you think about them? Anyone how of a place in Socal where they have a demo setup to be able to hear it? Thanks for the help in advance

    Default Stereo GOO ROO

What’s up brother? I'm a stereo nut, and I know all about those JL audios, 1st They work really well for a mid level bass you’re never going to achieve a deep sounding ear tickling bass from one of those woofers, They work well enough to make a difference in any stereo and they will go extremely loud, 2nd they take alot of power I know they say it’s like what 250-300 watts per speaker? Now achieving that is also a problem it’s a good thing JL is probably one of if not the most advanced woofer company out there they make those speakers and also JL W3's in a dual voice coil with 2 ohms and a dual voice coil in 4 ohms, JL like to be ran in odd numbers also so remember that like 3 JL W3 woofers all 2 ohm DVC (dual voice coil) wired in series would be your buddies ticket but when you wire them it’s kind of confusing but all that’s available at Krutchfeild.com 3rd this is where it gets tricky now 3 free air 10's wired in series is gonna FUCKING BANG...........but you need a Mono block (one channel) amplifier, and its gotta be capable of running at .5 ohms stable which I have all this shit and its expensive most amps won’t do it. Don’t be fooled by looking at an amp that is 3 feet long and gold plated with cool lights and little fan. you need serious shit like Orion red, PPI, Phoenix Gold, Some Kickers, And best of all the good old JL 1000.1 Part number 000JL1000.1MB. That amp will power anything it is what I suggest. Any way I fuckin rumbled for days but it depends where you’re at I’m in Riverside/Mo Val and there’s about 25 different stereo shops and out all of them, I only know of one that carries and has a demo booth with that equipment it’s called Modern Image in Moreno valley off sunny mead Blvd. (951-600-6133) they will hook you up with anything you need even if you have questions just give em a buzz. Dave owns it and he’s cool as hell, tell him Big Chad sent yah. GOOD LUCK sorry for dragging on and all the spelling errors

A good friend of mine has 4 12"JL free air subs in his Chaparal Deck boat. It hits really fuckin hard! Rons Detail in Havasu did his stereo install.

I'd have to ask him what amps he is running. Or you can call Rons Detail and ask them.

As far as finding a demo in So Cal. I'd call Marks Autosound in Irwindale CA. He installs a lot of JL products on his high end installs. He can possibly arrange for you to hear them on a customers boat they are doing. Mark also does all the stereo installs for Hallett, so that must say enough about the quality of his work!

    Good Luck,
