    Default 6x9 speaker help

Im looking to replace 2 Polk DB 691 6x9 speakers in my boat. Marine are not necessary.

I listen to all kinds of music. I would like to fine a good set that's not lite on the bass side but still have good mid's and hi's.

I have a Kenwood head unit with a Polk PA 500.4 amp and 2 Polk DB 651 6.5 ( that sound ok but looking for something better in the 6x9s) if i need to, I will replace the 2 6.5s as well

So who makes a really good 6x9 set of speakers that will work with my setup

Thanks and i do appreciate ALL HELP

I'm running Polk Audio Momo 6x9's and they sound great. Everyone swears by JL audio so you probably can't go wrong with those. The only thing is they are not cheap. Good luck and let us know what you end up going with

There are a lot of great options out there, but we all know it's important for our sound system to be good! The comment above hits on the reality of costs. Make sure you are getting the performance and sound that you want, not just what the price is! Have you checked out www.klipsch.com?

I had a guy today was saying that 4ohm speakers are better but could not tell me why.

Is there any truth to this ??????

What is the real diff. ?????

    from what i have read

    2ohm speaker and 2ohm wire res. = 4ohm
    4ohm speaker and 2ohm wire res. = 6ohm

And as of now im looking at these Amps

    Infinty Kappa Four amp
    Sony XM-ZR704 amp
    Sony XM-604M amp
    Pioneer GM6400 F amp
    Boston acoustic GTA 704

    Any thoughts on these ???

When they talk about Signal to noise ratio like 89db What dose this mean?????? is this how loud the amp will put out clear with good speakers????

For my amps I went with Rockford Fosgate power series. For my 6X9's I used the 400.4 which is a 4 channel amp.

ohm load is the amount of resistance the speaker puts on the amp. if an amp is 100 watts@4ohm it will be 200 watts@2ohm . but you need to make sure the amp is stable at the lower resistance(more power) if not it will get hot. if running multiple speakers on each channel this is where having speaker load options comes in handy.
