sounds like its hooked up to your sub woofer preamp outputs on the back of your deck. or the amp is tuned to only pass below 100 hz sound profiles.. any close up pics of the amp's settings that might help me help you
The MTX TC4001 is a mono, one channel, class D amplifier designed specifically to power subwoofers. It is rated 200w RMS at 4 ohms and 400w RMS at 2 ohms.
As far as it's ability to play the full audible spectrum (20hz-20khz), I don't think that will be possible because it looks as though the Low Pass Filter can not be turned of, just adjusted between 40hz-200hz... Therefor will only amplify frequencies below that set point.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

"I want the boat amp to run Ipod /no head unit"
Let me know if you find out how, I want to do the same with my system...
Famous last word's "Yeah Y'all, watch this"
I haven't got the right amp yet, but i've done this before. ipod to amp with cable that has headphone jack on one end & RCA's on the other, to input on amp.Hook up speakers, power, then I'm going to put the signal 12v wire through a lite switch{this turns the amp on & off}.donenot as tuneable as a head unit. most amps have gain ,bass control.volume is on the ipod
Considering that the iPod has crossover features on it, you can just use those to adjust sound anyway. Sounds good to me. Who needs a headunit? What are these CDs I hear people talking about?
The only problem is that an iPod only has a basic stereo output with only 1 left and right channel. The only way to truly run an entire system would be to run it into an equalizer and then to your amplifiers. No need for a radio. The cool part is if you plug it into your iPhone it will have satellite radio!
got my system togather todayWife & I sat in the boat & listened to it , was perfect
! I picked up a basic mp3 player $40, cheap 2 channel amp from walmart $79, set of 2 jl 6inch speakers. mp3 is in cubbie by my shifter,on of switch(4 amp) the rest is up under the bow, best of all, no head unit hanging under the dash. with gas prices what they are, planning on alot of floatin this summer
