Cabin Cruiser with jet drive??

Restoring a 1962 21' Glasspar Ventura. I'm curious if there is a reason why I should not put a jet drive with V-8 in this boat. Never seen this conifguration so I want to make sure its OK before I go down that path.

I've also looked at a Chrysler 318 setup because I have one brand new from the rebuild shop that was supposed to go back in a twin install setup in a 26 cruiser. I would use the 318 but I don't have the bell housing or outdrive. I've also wondered if I could use that Chrysler 318 with a Berkeley jet.

Any information from you smart guys out there would be great. I'm an outboard guy and don't have much experience with jetdrives.

One thing to consider is the weight of the engine/drive package. The picture you show has an outboard, which is probably much lighter. Also with a jet drive you lose some bouyancy, because you now have a hole in the bottom of the boat near the transom.
