    Default Rappahannock Radar Run in Tappahannock VA

    I posted this in other threads but since most of the BOTE particapants are around this area I would try and stir up some activity around here...

    The Rappahannock River Boat Association will be holding there annual radar run on June 28. Everyone is welcome, there will be access by land if you just want to drive up and watch. There will be a fee for the individuals who decide to run their boat/ski but will be free to public. The money will be given as a donation to the local Rescue squad and Dive team, who will be there for our saftey. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask. Here is a link for those of you who dont know where "T" town is :

    http://www.mapquest.com/maps/Tappahannock++Va/

    There will be a $50 donation required if you want to run the gun. Your entire entry fee will be donated to the Rescue squad and Dive team. There is no cost if you want to show up and just watch. If you need info on marinas or lodging, just let me know. I will be posting up links in the near future. The radar run will be held between 12-4 pm after that the DT/RS has to leave and will no longer be there. The party will more than likely start way before then and proably end when the sun goes down. Just remember that we are throwing this for fun and want everyone to have a great and safe time. Just like at Jack's, YOU will be responsible for your boat and guests.
    If there is any questions or concerns about anything please let me know.

    More details to follow...

    There are plenty of jets down on the Tappahannock.. I'm between there and Anna. My family has a place about 8 miles east or so from the town of Tap. The river is about 1 to 1 1/2 miles across in most places with a channel on one side, that barges and warships(long time since i have seen one) can go down. The other side can get shallow when the tide is out. There is plenty of room to run without being on top of someone like Anna. You can run wide open tail up if you want. I wont lie sometimes the water does get rough, to rough for my gullwing... I will go down and not even put it in the water. But I guess thats everywhere... just like anna last BOTE. If I can help with anything just let me know...

    More the merrier at the radar run...

    Oh yeah to answer your question... I have been in about a 20 mile radius with my boat but you could go as far as your gas tank would allow.

    Talking

    At a blistering 78 mph in the 1/4 I'm sure I can beat someone.
    It'll go faster...just need a mile or so to get there.

    That sounds good. I just talked to MikeT trying to get him to make some radar runs then do a nice long run. Any good places to eat on the water with gas?

    Unfortunatly there is no where close, there are marinas around but no where to pull up and grab a bite to eat on the water like some places. The only place I know of to eat is down in urbanna, but that is at the opposite end and is quite far by boat. It is around 20 -30 minutes by land.

    Default About a week to go...

    and it will be time for fun on the water. Hope every one has their stuff ready!

    Even though its just for fun we will be giving out a plaque for King and Queen of the river.. If anything its bragging rights till next year.

    Once again, all are welcome... and if you have any questions about anything give me a call and I will be happy to answer all your questions or at least find it out for you.

    Thanks and hope to see you there,

    Default Directions

    This is a long post but I wanted to post as much info as I thought might be needed:

    If you are coming to the RRBA Radar Run on Saturday and want to come by land here are the directions.

    Jets, and small boats participating in the radar run will be able to put in at this location. If you are bringing a bigger boat 22+ you should put in at one of the marinas in leedstown or preferably June Parker in "T" town.They will be able to accomadate you as we only have a small ramp here.

    Coming from Tappahannock go north on US 17, it will be 12 1/2 miles from June Parker Marina. Take a right on (637) Laytons Landing Road, there will be a sign that says Chance near a White church. Go 1 1/2 miles on Laytons landing road and make a right onto a gravel road. It will be the only gravel road in this area, there will be a sign marking the entrance. Follow the gravel road (which runs in between two corn fields) and bear to the left until you see water. Just stay on the gravel road and you should be fine.

    http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Ta...:::::f:EN:M:/e

    We will be down at the property between 9-10 am, if your coming by land you might want to show up around 11-11:30 to get a good seat etc.. If your coming by water you should plan on coming around 11 to get a good spot and to set up anchors etc... early arrivals will get the better spot.

    We will be running between 12-4 and high tide should be around 11 am for those of you that are interested.

    Its going to be a hot one so dont forget to pack accordingly as there will be no vendors etc..

    If you need more info just PM, post or call me 804-426-1117
    Hope everyone has fun and be safe out there.
    Thanks..Chris
