There are plenty of jets down on the Tappahannock.. I'm between there and Anna. My family has a place about 8 miles east or so from the town of Tap. The river is about 1 to 1 1/2 miles across in most places with a channel on one side, that barges and warships(long time since i have seen one) can go down. The other side can get shallow when the tide is out. There is plenty of room to run without being on top of someone like Anna. You can run wide open tail up if you want. I wont lie sometimes the water does get rough, to rough for my gullwing... I will go down and not even put it in the water. But I guess thats everywhere... just like anna last BOTE. Oh yeah to answer your question... I have been in about a 20 mile radius with my boat but you could go as far as your gas tank would allow.
