I got into it with a cop this summer.........I won
He started to baddle on about must have water going through the exhaust bla bla bla.

The law here is muffleing device, thats it.... water or some sort of insert. I even got to show him in his little book......told him before he started flappin his lips he should maybe consider doing some reading.

Pre-67 you can leave your exhaust at home. No laws apply.

Over transom, not through transom, which even boats from the 50's & older have.

I dont know I heard that in vernon they will not let you launch if you have
through hull.I have over transom headers on my cougar but by the time
they catch up I'm off the lake but my 30' Superboat is hard to hide in the marina.

Is there some type of local ordinance in Vernon or Kelowna that they are trying to either enforce or create regarding exhaust not being underwater?

Checked last spring, and federal regulations which should govern on the water requirements throughout the country are a muffler of some type but no mention of underwater systems. If they were required, most ferries, tourist boats, personal watercraft, etc. (including those on Lake Okanagan) would be in violation.

Clarification would be nice before wasting time towing down there this summer if we can't use the boat.

Pretty sure it is a Vernon City bylaw, which Kelowna is trying to incorporate, as well. OK Lake is what, 90 miles long, just don't launch in the city. It sound like there needs to be some clarification...
It seems the feds are giving some power to the civic level to enforce this shit within city limits.

Thats what I thought. The only thing they can realy do is just come out with a decible limit like in Havasu and other places in the US, that way the cops have a reason to fine.As of right now it seems like they don't have much to work with.

At least with a decibel limit we know what we are dealing with, and in most cases can comply with limited investment. But to just say all exhaust must be underwater and fine any boatowner with thru hull or over transom would affect more than just our performance boats. Typical of local politicians though to ignore reality and just make unenforceable yet highly annoying regulations.

Triggerhappy, saw your boat [ all white? ] at the HarrisonPR but didn't hear it. Yes, last year they started ticketing people on Okanagan Lake [ Wayne McLaine is in trouble for instance ]. We'll see how it will be enforced on both lakes since I boat on Skaha more often. If you didn't already know that hydroplane racing will be back in Kelowna this summer. Those boats are pretty loud. The city needs more money so a change of heart seemed to apply for them and maybe they let the boaters off the hook this season coming.I'm in the process of making my stealthy boat louder with through hull exhaust , albeit will carry the slip in cilencers on board , just in case
Ps; Sspeed66 , nice barrelback . What model is that , Aquarama ?

They dont have the fastest boats here. When I was a Merc dealer they actualy payed me to prop down all their boats to slow them down and make them all indentical in handling, i think some of the boats were from as far as Prince George. The funny thing is they know they cant keep up so they watch you and sneek up on you when you are not looking. This has happened to me a couple of times, usually when I have a beer in my hand.
