Poker run participants and performance boating fans planning on attending the 1000 Islands Poker Run in Kingston, Ontario, this August are finding hotel rooms to be in extremely short supply due to a schedule conflict with Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip.
The band, which announced a farewell concert tour this summer on the heels of vocalist Gord Downie being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, will play its final live show at the K-Rock Centre in Kingston on Saturday August 20 – squarely overlapping with the 1000 Islands Poker Run, also being help in Kingston from August 19 to 21.
Originally from Kingston, the Tragically Hip are one of Canada’s most popular rock bands, with 13 studio albums, 9 of which have reached the number one position on rock charts.
A recently announced farewell concert by The Tragically Hip in the band’s hometown of Kingston has left 1000 Islands Poker Run participants scrambling for hotel accommodations.
For its part, Poker Runs America is advising event participants to book their rooms at the host Delta Kingston Hotel immediately, with contact and room block information on its website.
