What is prop slip?
Pitch is the distance the propeller/boat progresses thru the water in one complete turn. Every inch of boat that’s in the water induces drag, and therefore the distance traveled is not always the same. This results in the propeller “slipping” behind the theoretical distance it should travel with each rotation. The difference between theory and reality is called “propeller slip”

How it works...
Inside the DataTach is a computer that receives GPS speed and RPM info and it calculates the slip of your boats propeller. It does this 5 time per second, to give you an accurate reading.

I was wondering if this guage can be rented???? It seems the prop slip in real time would be valuable when testing props. This would virtually eliminate guessing when running different props during the day and narrow the choices rather quickly.

In my opinion you would recover the cost of the unit rather quickly after several rentals w/deposits of course to ensure prompt return.

I completely understand what you are saying but its a competitive market and I would rather PM prices. This item I probably could have posted the price you are correct, but usually I will not just because of the competition factor.

I think that would be a great idea because Livorsi does offer a Prop Slip Portable Test Kit. I will look into that for the near future, but as of right now we do not have such a thing available.

Yeah thats the one!

I was over at Prestige Marine and they had one.

Once I left the thought was--- how about renting it to customers who may be tuning their prop choices. The average customer would not want to own it but renting it would sure be an asset when testing props.

The establishment would use it if it was not rented out and do so for no cost, once the equipment investment was recouped. I know that makes too much sense.

Oh well! back to the pioneer methods.
