Labor Day weekend "bike ride"?

My wife and I are planning a Motorcycle overnight trip to the Gold Country on Labor Day Weekend, 8/29-9/1. We are not sure yet if it is going to be one or two nights in a 100 year old hotel with a wild cowboy/biker bar down stairs and maybe a bar or two next door. I did it many years ago with my bike club and had a ball.
An open invitation to anyone interested, not just DLB people. I know there are several of the DLB people that have bikes, but we never ride together. That might be a good thing, I wouldn't want then to jump off the back of their bike when it gets too hot.

What town? What Hotel?

I have stayed in the town of Washigton out past Grass Valley. I have been to Groveland, Coulterville, Sonora area, Plymouth area. Maybe Nevada City.
Or let's get some other ideas. Al

just a side note...reno/sparks has there national championship RIB/BRISKET/CHICKEN cook off the same weekend(labor day weekend) we have been twice what a really great time with a big name band that plays when the sun goes down

There is a ton of stuff on Labor Day. We are trying to stay out of the main stream.
Groveland has a couple of very old Hotels with ancient bars down stairs. It is a regular biker stop, like the LaGrange bar.
I personally would choose the Groveland Hotel & Bar. Al

Groveland is a great spot. The Iron Door Saloon is the oldest bar in California and a great spot on the weekends. Had the original bar too, pretty cool spot. I wondered on to the place when staying at Pine Mountain Lake years ago. Much to my surprise they had some good bands for a little joint in a podunk town.

The Iron Door Saloon has a live band every weekend. On 7/29-7/30 I think it is Brad Wilson. The Groveland Hotel (bed & breakfast) is next door. The Hotel Charlotte (also B&B) is up the block. All of these have food. Across the street is Cochina's Mexican restaraunt with good food.
Right now the fires are near by. It should not be a problem on Labor Day. If it is, they will really be in trouble. Al

Where is groveland?

Groveland is east of Lake Don Pedro on Hwy 120, on your way to Yosemite. I miss-typed Coulterville on my last post that is now edited correctly.
Coulterville is east of Don Pedro on Hwy 132. The Hotel Jeffery's & Magnolia Saloon is the hot spot there. Both of these saloons were built in the 1850's. Coulterville may be a little less expensive than Groveland due to all the Yosemite traffic passes right through Groveland. Al

On Sat. 8/30/08, We will be staying at the Hotel Jeffery's in Coulterville. We will do a loop up 120 and back down to 132 and 49. We will take in a few spots like the Iron Horse in Groveland and the La Grange Saloon. Anyone wanting to join us, DLB or not, post up before 8/29 and I will tell you were to meet. Al
