Before any one can point you in the right direction you might tell them what you expect out of the boat performance wise. posting a pic of the boat would help. there is a wealth of information buried in these fourms, take the time to search and research you build I know it will save you some money along the way. I know a man on here thats only here for two reasons, to help the ones he can, and to piss the rest off. I would imagine he will chime in here shortly, a good man to listen to.

Then you need to keep the compression in the 9.5 to 10 to 1 range to keep it on pump gas, a little more if you have aluminum heads. Also remember cam choice can affect your compression as well.

The clearance on the rods and mains needs to be a little more also, myself I like .0035 on the mains and .003 on the rods. That lets the oil flow a little better and helps to remove heat from the bearring surfaces. Remember most of this motors life is spent at or above 3000 RPM.

80+ may be a little rough to get out of a pump gas cruiser, It will require a lot of test and tune on the motor, pump, and every thing else that touches the water.

Spend a week or two on here and see what you can learn, you will find most answers to your questions, and the ones you dont,,,,, dont be afraid to ask. You will figure out who the gurus are by then and know where to get the best info.
