anyone run this? or simlar? 468 twin pfm setup single carb on av/race gas. i cruise around at 0 boost most of the time plus i figure itll help me maintain the same pistons when i decide to get on it a little too often.
I run a BTM box, but now have it blocked off. The problem is the BTM box will retard it too much when you start making boost. Now I run my turbo motor locked at 29 degrees.
They suck! Like oldschool said, they take out too much timing as the boost climbs. They need to make it so you could limit the max amount it removes.
You'r much better off with one of MSDs programmable ignitions that lets you dial in the exact retard you what at every level of boost. More money, but the Boostmaster is useless for anything that makes enough boost to need a retard.

6m or equiv box is fine. No need for all that retard stuff when running full load. Proper tuning is the key.

I guess i won't buy one! Lol thank you. It was going to be added safety as I dont have waste gates. Summit said it was discontinued. Lol I'll look into the better msd. Alot going on w trans swap too so was trying to save a little.
If you feel you have the need for a retard timer, the MSD 6530 is vastly superior to the old defunct useless BMT. Its the reason the BMT has been discontinued, and it isn't all that much more. However, you will have to buy a map sensor but they aren't that expensive.

I bought the msd6al2. Worked awesome. Started at 38deg and pulled out 10 at 8 lbs. I don't want to hurt it! Run 110 in my bow tank and 100/91 in the sides. It's much better cruising and maybe just piece of mind when WOT. Has iron Chevy heads w some work done. So my weak link for now. I have no afr or waste gates.Originally Posted by BOOSTPOWER
