Cobra shop

Way back, we used to hang out at the Cobra shop in Venice Ca.....(now that area is called Marina Del Rey), west of Lincoln, about a mile south of Washington Blvd.... Occasionally we would see Mr Shelby and he always had a "Hi boys", or at least a smile..... The workers there were always cool as long as we stayed out of the way... When the first Mustangs showed up, mid 63 I think, things got a little tighter and the doors were closed more than they were open because the Mustangs were kind of a secret and not at the dealers yet.... Those SBF Cobras were real screamers, and the 427FEs were off the charts. I remember one FE, an injected 427, that you could "feel" before you heard it coming....

A true legend in motorsports, Carroll Shelby was one of a kind....RIP

The year would have to have been mid 64' and the place was north of Venice Blvd, in what is STILL Venice. They moved to the El Segundo plant on Imperial Hwy before the start of the end of the year. The first GT 350s done at the Venice plant were 65's. There are no 1964 Shelby Mustangs. All the 1966 Shelby's were built at the El Segundo plant.
