Default Dooley oil pans plug thread size?

Ok I called dooley to find out what size the plugs are so I could order the correct oil temp sender unit for my new oil temp gage. They told me 1/2 inch so I ordered one but it sure looks big to me. Does this sound correct? I have a 14 qt Dooley jet pan.

Not sure what the thread size is in a Dooley pan, but if its 1/2", then thats 1/2" SAE fine cap screw. Stock GM oil pans are 12" X 20. Your sender is probably 1/2" pipe. 1/2" pipe is much bigger than a 1/2" cap screw.

The 1/2 pipe is for the temp sender and was added by Dooley. The other is the original drain plug that was in the core pan when Dooley recieved it.
