blower and power valves

Are power valves really needed in a boat application? I can understand on the street but in a boat with the constant loads even when cruising seems to be on the edge. In a boat I thought most are in boost or close all the time.

Here is what I got.
Blown 540 and at a cruise of 3500rpm I get about 3-4 in.hg and at 4000rpm about 0-2 in.hg. This may all change with current build and blower being rebuilt but that is what I had before.

After I pluged my power valves on my blown gas caombo last year it ran much cleaner and was more responsive.

This year I switched to E-85 and had Mark Sullens do the work on the carbs to set them up for my new combo, have yet to test them.

Power valves have no place on a blown engine or any boat engine for that matter in my opinion! Let the slamming begin!!!! Mark

So far seems to be what I was thinking and why I asked. I was running a 2.5 but was always right there so made no sense. Looks like I saved myself a headache of modifying my new carbs.

We run them in a street driven fiberglass body 32 ford coupe with a nasty blown 468 on the bottle and they work great!!! We just do not like them in the boats, just what works for us. The coupe makes 1,052 at the tires...

Sure glad you guys agree that power valves are not needed for at least a heavy offshore boat blown deal.
Now, how much do you jet up from a known (dyno proven) jet number? 6 or more? Primaries only BTW.

Start at 4 over or you can go 6 and come down if lean might be an issue!
