Sudden fuel starvation?

Took my boat out yesterday for the first time since last August. Engine ran good as I put the boat thru its paces. Did several laps around the lake and ventured into a few coves. Had zero issues until I decided to leave for the day. As I was returning to the ramp, maybe 1/2 mile from the ramp I was cruising at about 3,200 rpm when all of a sudden the engine started coughing/chugging for about 6 or 7 seconds and then just died. After floating for about a minute, she fired right up and made it back to the ramp okay. My setup is a mild BBC w/ a Holley 750 and a Holley mechanical fuel pump. I have 2 filters in the system. One is before the fuel pump and one is after. All lines are 3/8" Any ideas as to what could of happened?

i'm gonna take a stab...possibly a loose wire on your dizzy or you picked up some junk from your fuel tanks?...just my .02 cents

Are you pulling fuel from both tanks at one time,if so,1 can empty faster than the other and cause problems...
