Putting together a SBC for a flatty that MIGHT end up in SE class. Mouzer had this thing sitting so I bought it without opening the cap. Model # is YS624MV2. Use it or loose it?

I had a mallory dual point n my 72 nova with a nasty 355 n high school I absolutely loved it. Took out an Excel bluprinted dist. W supercoil, the mallory is twice as hot it'll light ur ass up u get ahold of a wire. I was running a mallory voltmaster 2 coil and u have to run a ballast resister. Would definatly recommend it over hei.
A possible sugestion-convert the dizzy over to a Pertronics Ignitor III . It has an adjustable rev-limiter and it all fits under the cap. Less to get wet when you get hosed down!I believe the HEI is inductive and so is the Pertronics? Correct me if I'm incorrect..........

Remember that the Ark was built by amateurs and the Titanic was built by professionals.
The rules for the SE class are stock GM points or HEI ignition. You can have a aftermarket module, and coil in the HEI, but it has to look stock. Basically the same rule as the SS.

The problem with Obama jokes is that his worshippers don't think they are funny, and the rest of us don't think they are jokes
I had too many Mallory dual points come apart to ever use another one.

As far as "reliability"...12 years my Mallory Dual Point NEVER let me down...EVER!
Set it once a year and it was good to go.
Two years ago I installed a MSD RTR dizzy, but the Mallory is on my boat ready to drop in > when the MSD fails.
My MSD has a looooog way to go before it earns the reliability my Mallory has.
When properly set-up > and there is a 'proper' way to set them up they work just fine.
My $$$ MSD really added NOTHING performance wise, vs the Mallory Dual Point it replaced. Idles the same, plugs are no cleaner. The dual point makes for a little longer duration spark. I believe the MSD-RTR makes multiple sparks before a certain rpm.
Note > not all Mallory Dual points can use a drop-in module > my Mallory YL couldn't.
