doubtful. apparently, the only type of car fleece filters are made for are mb's. cartridges only. very useful info for performance boaters. doubt the op can just walk into his local napa and find one. just a guess...

that's right, but you can order from Mann filters, or at least find a cross reference number from them and get a better filter..

Oil Filters, Air Filters, Fuel Filters: Stocking factory authorized distributor of MANN Filters

I really think that running synthetic would be a good idea and using a better filter would add to the longevity of the motor..

    Just my 2 cents..

Europe has funny names for all kinds of things. Intake and exhaust valves are poppets, and gasoline is petro.
But then, I don't live in Europe, and here we make onesies and PJs from fleec, not oil filters.

Cool thing about fleece is it comes in pretty colors. Wonder if MB has a preference?
Understand that you have over 16,000 posts and that you obviously know a lot about boating ( I mean, even a blind pig can find an acorn , once in a while..)...but I also know something, even though I only have a few post..

And we could learn from each other..if you will allow it..

I also want to say it has been "my pleasure" , discussing such topics as oil filtration and it's characteristics..

Hope to see you soon....on the lake....!

honestly, i'm always hope to hear about something "better". but, this is a better filter than what??? the link you posted provides no specifications on any of the filters. so how is anyone supposed to do a comparative evaluation??? if you have some specs that can be evaluated next to a k&n, baldwin, or mobil one, that could add some value.

Ah hell, what does it matter anyway. Perfomance boaters rarely wear anything out, we either blow it up or sell it to buy something "better"!! What shelf were those Fram filters on anyway

The platinum filters are made up of fully synthetic media. The also have a silicone anti drain back valve rather then a rubber one. If you run synthetic oil more then 8k I usually suggest using one of those filters. Me personally, I change my oil every 3k so I use the gold filter and our house brand synthetic oil.
