I would love to know the difference between Skip White Performance and White Performance and Machine. Both from the same town, both selling the same EXACT kit for the same price. Father and son?
Heard better things about Skip White, and some not so good things about WP&M. Who knows.
Maybe Cstraub can shed some light. I think he knows the story between the 2.
BTW, FYI, ONLY the crank is Scat and its a cast crank. The rings are eh, the bearings are middle of the road King bearing, labeled by Ling to sound like a good bearing but in reality the same as the clevite/speed pro "P" bearing, and NOT recommended for extended high RPM.
The damper is from a company "called" Pro Race, and they make great dampers, but the one in the kit is what they market as a Pro Street, and it IS NOT SFI approved. Neither is the flexplate, although they say "it the very same plate as the one that is" Oh really. Then pu the damn sticker on the freek'n thing!!!!
The rings are OEM moly rings, no file fit.
And the pistons are Probe, and I will leave it at that. They have discussed on here before, and personally, I'd take Icons over them ANYDAY!
The rods ARE NOT SCAT RODS!!!!! My guess, considering the volume both SKP and WP&M do with ProCrap, they are ProCrap rods, or Galaxy, or..... But they ARE NOT SCAT!!!
Skip White offers Scats "I" beam as an UPGRADE so what does that tell you about the standard issue "H" beam rod. BTW, the H beam rod has a 8740 bolt, but the name of the manufacture is NOT mentioned. The Scat "I" beam upgrade comes with a ARP 8740 bolts, and it is named.
When looking at these kits, NEVER assume ANYTHING. They deliberately write them in a way that makes the kit seem much more than it is.
For a few dollars more, you can put together a much better kit on your own. just my 2 cents
If the kit as is works for you, then the price is pretty good. But if its not the kit you thought it was, think about either getting them to up grade the kit to your needs, or look somewhere else. That kit was put together to do exactly what it did. Get your attention., and possibly fool you into thinking its a better kit than it is.
edit: seems to be some concern that I am trying to talk the OP out of the kit. far from it. Just pointing out a few things that the ad is written to make the kit seem more than it is. ITS THEIR JOB. ITS HOW THEY MAKE MONEY! BUT if the kit is in your budget and you believe it will perform to your goals, by all means buy it.
