anyone run these mufflers in there headers, any good or bad,, power loss? very much noise reduction ? i have zoomies on the boat now but my neighbors and the water patrol wont let me get away with it for long. but im going to try!

They do squat for noise. Okay, maybe a teeney weeney bit. They are more for the track to show the track police you are making an effort by installing a 'noise control' advice.
Other experiences may vary, but that's mine.
Dynatech (the makers of those) even states "Typically good for a 1-3 reduction in dB. ."
That will not bring the Db's of open dry headers down to 'friendly' levels.

there are only 3 ways I know of to quite an engine. Electronic noise cancelation...needs to be tuned to each freq. and insanely expensive, military type money, but zero energy lose. Energy reflection/cancelation, like a Flowmaster, and absorbtion, like a glass muffler, and combos of the above. OR energy absortion thru strangulationGuess which the cones fall under. To make any significant noise reduction requires significant energy reduction, which requires more strangulation. With this design it is ....LESS NOISE=LESS H.P.

The problem with Obama jokes is that his worshippers don't think they are funny, and the rest of us don't think they are jokes
They do a fair bit to quiet the exhaust on a turbo header, but that is a very different application. They take a bit of crackle out of the sound when at idle and lower rpm's, and that is nice.
IMO the way to go is a collector muffler.
thanks guys, i was looking to maybe knock the edge off a little, of course there web site say no hp loss??? we have a good 1/4 mile no wake from the house here and it's great to warm the motor but not so good on neighbors
the water here gets rough past 10 am on weekends so ill go out around 7am
and buzz the camping area at the state park then rock thru party cove to see who's up.![]()
If you keep bothering people with the noise you may not to boat that way anyway.
From personal experience they'll first push for noise laws, then stricter noise laws, and then speed limit laws.
Play hard, but play nice.
The borlas take a ton of the edge off at idle and lower rpms. Still make DB at wide open throttle, but the crack and the edge get shaved off. It measures similar on the DB meters, but is so much more manageable for passengers, skiiers etc.
I have a set of Borlas for our little boat. Making headers for them this offseason. I also ran the Flowmaster collector muffler on my Lavey. Again, huge help to taking the edge off.
wait your talking about a lake that is the vegas of lakes. where guys like mti and big thunder run and test 200mph 40 foot cats when the water has 4 footers on the main channel
the people that own these boats make the rules. half of these guy's work for the state capital 30 miles away.
really it is nothing to see a full canopy cat running 150 mph off my dock at the 19 mile marker, part cove is about 2 miles from me this is what it looks like on a hoilday weekend the larger boats towards the top of the pic are 52 foot house boats to give you some scale
and this is in the state park where there are no homes.. near my place you can walk from dock to dock without getting wet
people tear down million dollar homes to build real homes. sorry i am not rich here but all those thing have been run up the poll and failed
and what sucks is it takes 4.50 gas to have a good time anymore, by that i mean keeps some of them off the lake.
thanks for the info on these, i would like to knock the edge off the crack noise so i will try them an let you guys know, i guess if the guys in the condo next to us can run there triple blown motors till three in the morning i can wake them up at 7 am not to mention there is bar on the other side of the dock from me
hey the do wave... still!
Just so you know, I wasn't mad when talking to you. Not even bugged. I know there are some places like yours where things like this go on with no issues. Cherish it !
Many other places, noise does cause issues. My Lake (very large) was one of the recent one's that got nailed - noise laws then eventually speed limits. Other lakes/rivers are suspectible to the same BS as we are/have gone thru. It's very life changing !
Just doing my boating enthusiast job of letting people know. Just creating some awareness.
no i didnt think so i like your post, there are issues here but money talks and the lake took this turn in the early 80's really i have never seen anything like it,
Those inserts look more like spark arresters than anything else lol
