i just put mine in, used the MPZ cam lube. With no gear it's not all that easy to start turning, but once it starts going it's not too hard. That cam lube (just like there regular assembly lube) is pretty sticky stuff, i think this contributes to the unff needed to get it going.
That's what I thought. My cam is a bit tight in the block (need two hands on the gear to turn it). The odd thing is, we put a different cam in the block and it spins just fine.
I'll be pulling the cam on Monday and have it checked to see if it's bent.
is the cam that fit nice used? how about the other that didn't?used cam will have some wear.
Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

Try cleaning off the cam and re-installing it with regular motor oil and see how it feels...Worth a try.
Put the cam on vblocks or between centers and then check it with an indicator.
Sounds bent to me.

Bent cam is exactly what I'm thinkin' as well. If it is bent hopefully I can take it back and get a new one.
Jon Jon Jon......give them the full story about nicking one of the new cam bearings, having to pop it out and installing 1 bearing from a different set. As I mentioned, there is a very good probability that the new bearing is a different size than the ones your machinist installed.
The k.i.s.s. theory applies here.
you should've miked the bearing and figure clearances before installing
