will dan olson block mount oil cooler work in true tunnels?

guess what im getting at is will they clear between the block and tunnel on most tx18/tx20/cheyenne type hulls? how well do they work at bringin down oil temps? the 1's i keep see'n for sale are kinda bulky looking so im not sure, would hate to order something jus to find out it no fitty

well i went by at lunch and we're pretty sure it'll clear in a tx20 tunnel, and he's got more than nuff room between the bottom to get a fullsize filter back on the oil cooler mount.

anybody got a pic with 1 mounted on the motor tho? kinda concerned it may get in the way of his oil returns for the turbos on the oilpan, jus a pic of 1 mounted would be awesome so i can kinda eyephuck it alil if the oil cooler doesnt drop much below the pan rail, we're golden

that'd work too , i dont care which he ends up with but he's been singing the oil pressure blues since he 1st started running this motor cuz the block is 1/2 filled, so i said to get a good oil cooler so he'd have piece of mind , cooler oil=mo pressure at idle etc. if the dan olson deal will drop oil temps below 180*, shit ill get him 1 on the way between the 2 big turbos and the 1/2 fill, the oil never has time to cool unless he parks for a bit, and that's getting on his nerves.i dont blame him, i likes me some oil pressure toooos

Anyone have any kinda numbers as far as how many degrees cooler they get the oil ?

i searched the net looking for some real temp numbers but nada im gonna get him to move on 1 and we'll jus run the pump water supply to it then into the block water passages, keep coolest water in the oil cooler and hope for the best. sob looks big tho! gotta do the job pretty well too if its a olson

You can remote mount it.

Take the adapter plate off and tap the passage holes to 1/2 NPT. I ran one like that for years. The tapped area is inside the "O" ring groove so the adapter can go back on some day.

well that's good to know, thanx ron! i bought that 1 five-o had for sale in the spam section jus now for him, if it wont clear, will remote mount it now that we know it can be. that takes a load off my shoulders lol, was lil worried it may not clear his bung in the pan for oil return.
