Default quick Ballast resistor wire ?

The mini starter I just got doesn't have the "R" terminal on it for the ballast resistor.

Why can't I put that wire on the same terminal as the solenoid wire? Its hot when key is turned...however, I'm sure there's a reason why they dont' do that to begin with anyway though, so why not?

Because it will feed back and keep the starter engaged. Try running without it. If it will start when cold you should be good to go.

What are you running that needs a ballast? A 12 volt coil runs on 12 volts unless you have those things.........what are they called?.....points? i think

It was on a Mallory unilite breakerless distributor, it recommended using a ballast, but that just took a dump, so I started another thread with questions about another distributor....Not a stupid question like this...can't believe I didn't think for an extra 20 seconds to remember that...duh!!

    Thanks.
