    Default School me on BBC

So.. here's the deal have a 454 in my boat now, thing has close to 500hours on it. Probably time to do something with it, it's tired. I ran across a deal on a rotating assembly for a 502 all Merc racing parts (Crank, Rods, Pistons)

I am no expert when it comes to BBC bore size, crank and all... I don't think you can take a 454 to 502 cubic inch with a 4" stroke correct?

I haven't kept up with the latest offerings from GM, but in the past the 454 block was a different block and would not bore big enough.

It's not possible to bore a regular GM 454 block to accept a 502 (4.470") piston into it. On top of that, the 502 assembly is probably for a late model block, which has a 1 piece rear main seal, so unless you had a late model 454 block, it's also not directly compatible. Both the 454 and 502 have 4" stroke cranks.

All you need to know is a big block is so yesterday. A LSX with efi is where its at. Especially if you want to spend a bunch of money and get less.

Did you order one of those Pro Comp 502 blocks? If so, I will be curious to know how that works out.
