I'm just curious.
Is it just an alky motor that runs 60/40, 70/30 etc? Are there special engine needs that would be required to use nitro?
Say if someone every once in a while wanted to run nitro.
Only money. That is it. LOL
Ok, it is not horribly uncommon for na guys to run fuel. BUT you only want to run 5 to 10% max. It will make way more power than you'd think. You try to run 40 to 60% in a chevy it will take a real tuner and real parts and you will still kil stuff.

Maybe that was a crappy answer. It takes more fuel (nitro and alky)(or mixture needs to be richened) and more timing could be utilized, but not in the beginning. It is also hard on mains. (mostly due to guys detonating it)

are you running a blower?? give me idea of what your motor is and I might be able to give you an idea..
I have a friend that tried to run some nitro in a BGF one day..had a screw blower...did I say HAD a screw blower..He got a little brave on how much nitro to inject into it ..When rescue showed up to put the fireout on the starting line..they commented they had never seen a Blown Gas motor burn like that. lets say he didn't try it again.

Formally know as UNFORGIVEN...
This comes from experience. If you want to tip the can "so to speak" keep it down to a max of 10%. Reread Wags thread! Nitro hits alot And I mean Alot harder than gas or alcohol. It is a different burn than alky or even the highest octane gas you can find! That might be why the feul boats check the bottom end after every pass. Tuning stays pretty easy under the 10% mark, after that its a crap shoot! M
compression ratios and timing are the two big factors here.Esp when you get up in the percent

98 in the tank
73 on the mags
60 on the blower

Theres no motor per say, but if i was to put one together or have one built. What are we talking about Comp ratio wise? 13.1/10.1/14.1 etc. Say it was to have a blower 1071/1471. So far its no more than 10% for the dummies. Anything else?
I always thought it was kinda hard for the average Joe to get nitro. Is it hard to buy nitro? I also heard it was pretty pricey?

I was going to pick up some juice here in the upper mid west...$60 a gallon...and fill out some paperwork for homeland security..The law states that you can not have more than 40 gallons in your posession...If you think about going "old school" and add additives such as "H", they will jack up the jail and stuff you under it. Plus that shit can split a motor in half.
Remember our times have changed, and it makes hard for us gearheads to have a little fun with space age fuels

Your local fuel car or boat guy will probably sell you some.
Nitro uses lower compression. IF you are going to stick to strictly 10% max, not an issue then. Wizbang gave you a great baseline tuneup. ROFL
Please do keep us posted and video first time you whack the throttle. It will be cool to see.
Good luck.

If only 10% max, build a nice alcohol piece and add as needed (or wanted). Building a piece specifically to run 10% makes as mch sense as building an engine you have to mix race fuel in with pump gas to run on the street.
