That is what I have on my 496 and 555 and it works great! I do wish that the dig 6 box would go a little bit more on the retard for the NOS! 9* is all you can pull out! And if you load 300+ shot you have to pull the dizzy back! Quality has slipped a bit but they do have a good service department!

You will like it for simple operation! And MSD is better than some options out there! Good luck!

Not sure which box you have but the MSD 6530 allows for up to 30* retard from a trigger wire.



MSD 6530 Programmable 6AL-2There is a single step retard that is controlled through the Pink activation wire or through rpm. It can also have an rpm point that the engine must reach before the retard becomes active (a minimum rpm can also be programmed that must be reached before a step becomes active). A time based ramp can be programmed to gradually bring the retard to its full On amount, or to ramp the retard amount out (back to no retard) from its setting.
Activation through Wiring: The retard is activated when 12 volts are applied to the Pink wire. The maximum retard allowed by the ignition is a total of 30° (including other retard amounts or a boost map).

I have been reading horrible reviews on MSD quality lately. I was planning on running Digital 6 on my 13.5:1 496 w a single stage plate. What alternatives are out there that work? I have only run HEIs in the past so I don't have any experience with boxes. I really like the features of the digital 6, start retard, single stage retard, and built in rev limiter. I have an MSD billet dist if that matters.

We have tested the Daytona-Sensors stuff and are now stocking it. It is tough stuff and they have a marine USCG approved box. Digital and will wire into any type of "dumb" distributor.
