Made a couple more of these. These are Right hand side BBC pointers

Another Top Notch part Brian!!!!![]()
Very nice parts, but why on the right side? Is there something in the way on the left side where #1 is?
OR, is it something to do with gen V or VI?

It's that button in the middle of the steering wheel........
Will this work with a 6.75" balancer???? I'd like a billet style but cant find anything for the smaller balancer
The right side is much easier to get at.
The guy driving this boat seems to have some long legs and the seat is back up against the left cylinder head ?
Then all the plumbing is crammed in there too ?
The right side is open to eye sight.
We positioned it so you can see the timing above the crank support and below the blower belt guard.
I'm not sure this one would be really good for your 6.75 dia with this pointer, I am sure St John could make the same bracket and just make the pointer itself offset to the smaller diameter ? If you'd like, I can ask him.
Yea now that I looked there are many avail out there. I measured my balancer and it measures about 6.5" dia. does that sound right? Dont really see any pointers for a 6.5" so do I use a 7"?
Left or right - are you talking about facing the motor? I assume all the avail ones are made for the right side? a left side type would work nice for mine cause the right side is pretty full:

I prefer the pointer to be as close to the balancer as humany possibly. That way you'll know exactly what the timing is even if your looking from a slightly different angle.
Get an adjustable (in degrees) pointer for your exact diameter damper. Obviously, find #1 exact TDC when putting pointer on and adjust so it points at exact #1 TDC.
You sure your balancer is 6.5" ? Not a very common BBC size. I'd measure exactly and/or contact manufacturer.
When I was talking about right vs left, I'm talking about how the engine is in a car. Sorry.
For me , left is the original side ( 1,3,5,7 )
Right is in front of the fuel pump mount ( 2,4,6,8 )
I know there are all kinds of them for the original mounted side , Cyl 1 side.
Like stated , better measure your balancer od.
I'll have to get out my dial calipers and put a measure on it. With a tapemeasure it looked about 6.5, but could have been 6.375. It is definately not 6.75 as originally told. I saw the Moroso P/N 60130 - they show it as a 6.250"
Moroso : Category Display
Right hand YES - on the fuel pump side, see my pic thats the empty area. Yours are probably for 8" balancer?

Putting the pointer on the other side of the engine going to mess up the timing marks?
