Default 848 Conversion to 5 Liter Whipple

So today one of my best customers showed up after a long drive from Luisiana to have his 848 turned into a 5.0 liter Whipple motor. It is a 6-8 hr conversion including the reprogramming and clean up. The motor we start with is a 540 ci 8.75:1 engine with a VERY stout bottom end. With the compression being so high, the boost needs to be held to 7-8 lbs on pump gas, but can be taken up into the teens on race fuel for a VERY sunbstantial HP gain. . This RPM 26 Cat ran an easy 118 mph in the Spring in LA, and we will be doing some testing out in Havasu on Monday to see how it does in the AZ heat. Here are some before and after pics

The guys at RPM did an awesome job dialing in the Hatch and the TPI scoop for a pretty straight forward installation. There were a few little changes that needed to be made such as: the Oil filter needed to be relocated and the water crossover needed to be swapped. The valve covers were pretty tight in relation to the Whipple by pass system on the 5.0 liter, so the customer opted to have a new set of valve covers installed with a different breather location. I am very pleased with the look of it and with a quick deletion of the previous 848 ecu program, and the new program uploaded and the Throttle position set, the motor runs perfect. Should be pretty nice

    Gary,

Thanks again for all that you have done, my wife and I had a wonderful time with your family and are looking forward to you and your wife coming down to our neck of the woods for a party. Cant wait for tomorrow on Havasu I really think that the boat/motor combo is going to blow everyones minds, including mine. Anyone needing a motor, look no further, call Gary and forget the rest, you will get the best bang for the buck and by far the best customer service bar-none...See ya tomorrow Gary, we will swing by and scoop your wife up on the way out, she won't have much choice then

Not so much of a jump in power, but the engine is so laid back now it jumps to any speed with no effort at all 70mph 0 boost, the motor is so smooth you know other boats are watching you thinking he got the boat, but why didn't he get the motor, then you blow his azz off the water but he turns and runs
