    Thanks guys.

    As this magazine progresses, you will really be impressed. I have seen the direction that it is headed,,,,,,,and it looks VERY good.

    Regarding Howard?: I was just there last week and took a look at that new 35+ Bullet(it's long), and it looks good. I mean real nice. I cannot believe how straight it is. They have come a long way with that one. Once that thing is up and running, they should have a pretty solid fleet of boats for a while.

    Spread the word about the new mag,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    Hi Gary;

    Nice to see you are involved with this class-act; you always seem to associated with the "upper crust". One question (personal)...how do you balance the FD, family, TPI and this project.....you are energy-boy!!!!

    Best of luck with everything.

    PS-Did you see "Dark Angel" pix???? Very BillyB-esque/color-blind-ish!!!
    Happy Holiday.

    Billy(New2cats),

    That is a question that needs to be answered. I get asked it a lot. The answer is going to be long-winded:

    First of all, the fireman job is great. There is nothing like it and I am blessed to have it. Regarding TPI,,,,,,,,,,,It is really hard to keep it small. Much harder than I thought. I figured I would build a few motors here and there(I really enjoy building custom Big Block efi's) and see if I could sell them. Every now and then I run an ad to let everyone know I am out there, and that is when I get buried with work.....................................to the point where the enjoyment get's swallowed up by the hours that MUST be put forth to keep the quality at the same high level as usual. That is when I re-evaluate my business. I usually do it two-three times annually. This is not about money to me(Its really not). Don't get me wrong, I need to justify my time by getting paid, but sometimes it seems to me like all of the money in the world won't help me watch my kids grow up(although it might help them with college). I have really improved my business and engine builds to maximize what little time that I have. Which brings me to my Family:
    My family is #1. At whatever cost. Sometimes work stops if there is a Soccer game or a school dance, or trips to the school for something. It's taken me a long time to realize that(40 years old last September). In fact, I realized it right before I was about to really go big with TPI. I need to keep TPI under control, efficient, and small for it to be enjoyable. IT HAS TO BE ENJOYABLE to be truely successful(IMO). That is my measurement of success(everyone has their own measurement). If someone want's a hand built AMERICAN motor for their boat, built by the same guy that put's his name on it, we can talk. If not, no problem. There are alot of choices for engines.
    In summery, My fire dept schedule is laid out for the whole year(pretty much), unless the brush fires come, so I can schedule around that. As far as TPI, I try to build my motors specifically to my customers needs and I plan them around the fire dept and family schedule. If they(the customer) tell me what they want to do up front(speed/performance wise), I can accomodate them. This relationship keeps people pretty happy as a whole.
    Every customer is well aware of my commitment to my Fire career and my family, which has never seemed to be an issue. My timelines for engine builds are ALWAYS on the mark. ALWAYS.......................
    With Performance Boats Magazine,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,all of the above apply. I promised the magazine I would do whatever I could to help them. They are great people and they are working very hard to make a great magazine. It's a bit of a balancing act, but all parties are well aware of each other(which is the key to it all).

    I hope this all make some sense to you guys...................................Happy Holiday's

    Gary;

    Well stated, makes perfect sense and thanks for sharing some personal info with us all! I have always admired your ethic and enjoyed the times we have talked. You know that I would have sprung for some 848s if Nina would have agreed to it!!!!! She said "DCB , OK....Merc. motors with warranties and 87 octane + open bow and it is a GO"!!!! Oh well, P-whipped with a new DCB is better than stubborn and splitting everything 50-50% in divorce court, right..J/K!

    So....you did not answer my 10,000,000 question; what do you think of the new hull ("Dark Angel") should have enough pearl in it to satisfy even the most die-hard bass guy!!!!

    Default Thanks to all

    Thanks Dave,

    I think I will be mostly assisting members with Questions/Answers to their custom builds here. Although if guys are requesting to see pics of current projects at TPI, I would think that would be acceptable too, especially if it pertains to a topic at hand. There will be another 848 project coming in January. It will actually be a conversion from a 2007 525 to a New TPI848efi in a beautiful Ultra 27 Shadow. Maybe that would make for some good Q/A? We will see. Basically, I will be coming on here as often as possible to "check in" and see if I can assist in any way. That is my role here as I understand it.
