Im no expert ,but I was told you can put any weight oil in it and do it often . I personaly do it every time i go out, along with the greasing the front bearing. I was also told that some individuales take out the plugs all together and run the water through it, but I dont think I ike that idea.

If your pump is designed for an oil bath use it. Pumps that a designed for grease have a snap ring so that the grease will not push out the seal.I use a light weight oil in the Berkeley and Lengend bowl and reccommend that you check it every third or fourth trip.Greasing the bearing every time you take the boat is absoultly to much grease. Do you grease your wheel bearing every time you take your truck to the lake? Once you grease the bearing at the begining of the season I feel that is plenty of lube. The only time I would over grease is for some reason your bearing was submerged under water.Forgot to put in the drain plug , took a roller over the back of the boat and let set for a period of time .Many times I've had customers have bearing failure due to this type of sititutation.
