Greg I kind of remember a general rule of da thumb regarding the amount of power to achieve a set speed that says for every 1mph increase you need an additional 10 hp . I have a 76 Eliminator 21' Daycruiser, was there a model name for that or was it simply the "daycruiser? I love the boat it seems to have plenty of glass in it, sometimes I ponder taking it out into Monterey Bay but haven't yet. I know that this is a somewhat heavy barge but I would like to crack 80-85 mph on a lake or river. I have the guardian H.O. 454 spinning a AB cut impeller in a Legend 12JG pump that I just put a new thrust bearing and one of Duane's from Hi-Tec in Shell Knob "Ultimate" wear rings. my best run was a early morning blast at Englebright of 70 mph@5500 rpm before I did the pump. Would I need to gain another 150 horsepower to get to 80 mph??
Greg it is the 21 foot two step deck, I think you rigged this one It is a yellow and brown hull that spent most of it's years on Lake Arrowhead. It was well taken care of and it runs strong but the years caught up with the wood in the seat frames.
