Can I move my exhaust tips "up" ?

I have a 25 foot Eliminator Eagle with a 496 with CMI headers and gatlin tips ... I love my boat ... BUT ... I thought I had done everything to make my boat sound louder and beef 'er ... I hear all the boats at Havasu sounding great ... my boat sounds like the wimpiest boat on the lake ... my nephew says it sounds like a small block it is obvious that the problem is the exhaust tips are mostly underwater ... has anyone ever heard of raising the exiting exhaust plumbing on the transom? Please don't say "hey ... live with it" or " Life isnt everything we want" ... you know ... peeps that miss the question and "give life advice" or "behavior or legal advice" ... I want to get that killer sound and its worth it to me ... i already have a pontoon boat that sounds wimpy ... any advice is appreciated. Thx. Mike K.
PS: anyone heard from Bob Leach ? I tried to e-mail the office but ... nothing ? I know they are back at the old location? Thanks.

As I recall the 25 Eagle has a molded in swim step so the exhaust has to be mounted below the swim step. If you do mount the tips above swim step I also recall the angle of the tip would allow water to run back into the exhaust system. I have seen some boats where they run the tips out the sides but I never really got behind that idea. I think I would enjoy the wimpyness sound of your exhaust.

The swim step is built in ... but there is room to raise the pipes up out of the water and still have plenty of room to clear the bottom of the swimstep ... I saw a red 25 Eagle with it's pipes above the waterline ... I shouda hunted him down and checked it out. I kinda figurered this would be a weird question. Thanks for your reply though.

As long as it clears the power steering ram on the starboard side it can be moved up so the exhaust tip will mount right under that ram. Measure the tip and look on the inside of the motor compartment and see how much you can raise the tip.

You can put the exhaust anywhere you want for the right money, and a good shop. Any high dollar shop, (GT PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING INC. ,Authorized MerCruiser dealer, Donzi, Boat, Dealer, Used, Parts, Accessories, Service, Storage, Financing) They can do anything. Find an example of what you want.
