I run the boat in a very sandy environment ie... lower Colorado river.
You know my water pressure gauge was clogged with sand and would not work until I cleaned it out jam packed with sand. I suspect my intercooler might be clogged but I do not know if this is possible nor do I know a way to check it.
I have a separate sea strainer for the intercooler which uses a basket to capture foreign matter. However, I do not believe it will capture sand particles.
Questions:
1. I would like to add this as a secondary strainer for the intercooler to insure no sand makes it near the intercooler and will this work.
2. Lastly, does the strainer housing come in different colors other than black---perhaps candy blue, pewter etc...
Answer: Yes it will work with existing sea strainer as a secondary.
and
It only comes in black but can be shipped out to be anodized etc...

P.S. Great technical service division at Hardin answered all my questions and very polite. I will be adding this to my setup and perhaps a serpentine belt system to clean things up.
