Your right Rader, who ever gets this boat is gonna be one happy family. Unfortunatley it's 20mph slower than where I am right now so yes it would be friggen great for a family and the little ones. My dad did the same thing when we were kids. Bought a 55 mph jet boat just for us to have fun in and never get out of hand with to much speed.

People I tell ya if you have kids that are just learning how to water ski, go tubing, and wake boarding, this is the boat for you. Also if your kids just like to jump into the water from the boat, it's perfect so you don't ever have to worry about your kids getting seriously burned from over transom headers. And still one of my biggest worries til this day, a PROPELLER CUTTING OR CHOPING SOMEONE. With jets the only worry you might have is a little jet wash taking off your swim trunks and be a little embarrassed :D.

So to all you family's/ fathers that want to get on the water with there kids, this is the way to go. Just good plane fun and no trips to the hospital. Oh and speaking of hospitals, this thing did just back from ULTRA Boats with a clean bill of health. Rader I hope this will help you out and good luck with the sale, I'm certain it will be sold in good time.

Big Jim this boat will haul mail. FroggyStyle back in the day had a similar hull. His would spread water pretty good. All depends on what you want to do with it. From what I read its stock. So this would be the base line. This would be a perfect hull for you & the Mrs.:(:(:D:D

Add a droop a PSI then some Nox, Wala Race boat :D Maybe just a cam & different Impellar would get it started

Good looking boat rader. Good luck with the sale.

OK Lets say I do buy his boat for what he's asking "$22,500". It's now running 53 MPH, how much money do you think I would have to put into it to run what I'm doing now "72mph"??

I had the same boat. Mine originally started out with the MarinePower "X" 454 (450hp) that ran about 55. I had MPD blueprint the pump, detail the impeller, back-cut shoe and a droop snoot...THEN I pulled the motor, re-cammed it, new intake manifold, port matched the heads, new valves (already had oversized intake valves), minor porting to the heads, 850 Holley carb reworked to 920cfm and Lightning headers and was able to GPS 69 mph with about 5 gallons of gas alone in the boat with slight wind chatter on the lake.

And amazingly enought, the stock motor had a Q-Jet 750 on it. When I went with the Holley setup, I got much better mileage out of it at cruising speed.....until i ran it up to 4100 and the secondaries opened up.

I was able to spin an A impeller 5200rpm after the pump work and after the motor work.

Ultra makes a great boat and I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Just my experience.

That's realy good RF, a 14mph gain for not to much money. Let me try and add this up and tell me if I'm in the ball park.

1) 850cfm Holley Carb. $600.00
2) MPD blue printing the pump, detail the impellor, back cut the shoe, and
add a droop. I would say that bill came to be about $2200.00
3) re-cam the motor I would say $400 with everything involved.
4) New manifold ball park figure $400
5) Port and polish the manifold and heads, I'm only guessing that to be
about $500-$600

I added the 850cfm carb. new incase the boat didn't have that carb. to begin with. To have it reworked to 920cfm I realy couldn't tell you how much to have that done. I will throw a figure out on the high side and say $200 from any boat shop.

So we might be talking $4400.00 to get that boat 14mph faster. Also if you wanted to put a 150 shot of Nitrous that get her to a safe 75mph. That could cost you another $500. So about $5000.00 to keep up with the jones's. Then your talking re working the crank if you want Nos, forged pistons and a pile of other things.

I would leave her alone, put a nice starter family in it and be happy with it. By doing this would probably be a very reliable boat that won't break down in the middle of the day and pur frowns on all of the kids faces.

As I recall, your estimate isn't far off. Head work was more, MPD was less and the Lightnings were the priciest mod. I helped recover alot of my costs by selling the left over stuff on ebay. I performed all the work myself (except for the head work and carb work). I also replaced all lines with braided SS and other detail stuff. The only reason I started that project in the first place was to get rid of the Q-jet. In my opinion, they have no business on a jetboat. The secondaries open up too soon and mileage goes to crap. My cruising speed was about 3100 rpm, which was about 30-35 mph. Even there, the secondaries were open. The holley didnt open until 4100.

The only wrench I turned on the boat after all my work was to adjust the floats and set the idle the first time out. I ran it that way for 5 years until I sold it last May. As you said, the key is keep it reliable, usable power thats good for the whole family.

Again, Ultra builds a great boat and I would own another in a heartbeat!

Nice boat and good luck with the sale!
