View Full Version : how to adjust steering

i have a 77 kona its my first jet boat.. i was looking things over and i noticed when i turn the steering wheel to turn right the jet turns quite abit to the right.. well i turn it all the way to the left and it doesnt go as far.. is this correct or do i need to adjust it some where if so where at.. at the wheel under the dash or in the rear.. any help would be great .. thanks:)devil

What kind of jet ?
is the cable or casing moving out of jet when turning ? or mounting in boat loose or binding somewhere

its a berkley jet nothing is binding or loose in the boat everything seems to be tight

may have the wrong cable length (had same problem once with a dominator jet)
try posting in JET BOAT section will get more hits
post pics too may help
as far as I know there is no adjustments to be made

Start w/ wheel turned all the way to left/right. Count # of
turns to other direction. Turn wheel half that #. Where's the jet
pointing? To adjust there's a big nut on both sides of the Berk plate
w/ a seal sandwiched in between. You'll have to adjust these to get the
jet centered. This is how my Kona is anyhow!

This works, but if not check for bad cable, I lost my steering over fathers day cuz the cable opened up above the left gas tank. The inner cable was inch-worming out and lost all right steering. By the way driving with only left steering was a handfull, I was luckly and was close to the ramp.:D
