They were nothing to look at but they ran great.
Here's a challenge to you car motor boaters. A 100 mph boat for less than 5 K.:p
Plus, after we prove what they will or will not do, the boats must be sold and all proceeds over 5 K be donated to charity. This will keep you guys from borrowing someones 30K motor , etc.

My 2nd boat was listed at $4,200. I paid $3,900 and it had a close to stock 396 and ran 79 mph. I still have it. 100 mph for $5,000 isn't unheard of in the v-drive world. ;)

My STV isn't all that fast, the best I've seen is 109, but every weekend I've had it out in Havasu, I could count on one hand how many car motor powered boats could out run me down the river to the sandbar, or how many would take a run at similar speed with me from Topock to the mouth of the river.

The reality check needed is what kind of boating do you do? I like to run around the river and lake. I choose to live in this area for exactly that reason. And in these parts, I'd say my OB powered rig will hang with the best of them in it's intended use from my perspective.

Oh, and I wasn't the guy in the channel bitching about not being able to afford gas to drive up to Topock and back (that was the BB jet boat guy). :)

I think some of you really believe your boats are fast. I remember Eric Olsen and his 98 mph STV Euro. He talked so much trash he could have opened a landfill. When the day came to ride in my brother in laws flatbottom he didn't even make it to the bridge (100 yards idling) before signaling the driver to take his pussy ass back to the beach. Upon returning, he proceeded to tell Billy how insane he was.

Nice guy this Eric is but a typical outboarder who found himself out of his element.

Havasu is for fun. Getting to boat around the party makes it even better. Yes, I live in Vegas and prefer to get away from the majority of gold digging club swooners that seem to live here.


Hondas can go. I've seen a race prepaired crx do the same lap time a race prepaired vipers on PIR. Hell even a blown ford focus svt hatchback will spank a zo6. Go to PIR on thankgiving weekend for the 2 hour enduro and watch it, funny as hell. It's fun watching a 5k civic putting the spank on a 60k M3.

For the record, I have 2 boats and currently neither of them run. The first boat I've used recreationally since I bought it in 1994 (until last year) and the other a full tilt race boat (trailer queen) that none of you will ever see unless I enter it in a fishing derby.:)bulb I was given the opportunity to circle race once in Parker so I did. I know, not much of a resume but that's it.

I've ridden in an assortment of outboards and had fun in all of them (including Steve Ards mirage). I enjoy poking fun at my clamp on friends now and again but I hope you guys don't take me serious, I am after all only a cameraman who rides around on a bike. :)

Nope, you got that wrong. I've been in a blown alcohol hydro and a blown alcohol flat, and I say with no issue that they would whoop the crap out of my boat in the 300' that those guys run up there on the Sac river (right CharityCase?) :D

That being said, I choose to run an outboard because they are fast, long lived and relatively cheap to own. I could care less what you think about OB's, but when you get on the OUTBOARD forum trying to tell us how we are fags, and basically disparage our rigs, THAT pisses me off. And to come from a guy that doesn't even go boating, it's pathetic. You say you own two boats, both BB boats, and neither one runs...what's that say about your beloved BB?

I'm certainly not in the BB sections telling them how the OB's do it - although I have gone in there to help them with nitrous questions and have even sold nitrous kits at great discounts to some of those guys back when I worked for a company that was a WD.

I guess the thing is, I'm here to meet people to go boating with, to encourage boating and to help my fellow man. I also look to these places for good technical info and will offer the same to those that ask.

Hey TD its pretty cheap to run cause i get alky for about $175 for a 55 gallon drum but its just not as quiet and relaxing as the wacker. I also doubt a wacker will hold up on the back of that thing since it weighed 360lbs with the pump in it. I love the jet but man i like the wacker with the stereo cranked and running 75 up and down river all day......Oh ya and for the wacker guys it does it on less than 8 gallons a day :D:D:D...... Ok back to the jet forum before someone spots me in here.:)hand
