Just sitting here in my backyard watching the turkey fry while i sip on a cocktail and after a few minutes of being bored remembered that I have a laptop and wireless internet! (guess I've had a few cocktails already) This is the 4th or 5th year (can remember right now) we have deep fried the turkey and it never gets old. That smell while it cooks is intoxicating...hope you are all enjoying your day as much as I am!

Fried turkey is edible, but you can keep it. We'll keep smoking them here, over Mesquite and Jack Daniels Oak chips.

Did not smoke or BBQ the bird this year, but did smoke some Tuna belly's and a good cigar after dinner.

Have only had deep fried turkey once in my life and it was so good. One of these days will eat another one.

Damn 3856' yesterday? must be using a big downhole motor. Our rigs are ranging from 30 to 96 FPH this morning. Where are you drilling?

no his wife told me she thinks she did not thaw it long enough and he got impatient waiting. so my guess is that the residual water in the turkey made things go south really quick.

We Usually average around 250-500 FPH outside the surface shoe for the tangent. Usually about a 5000' tangent at 30-40 deg. We can slide around 150 FPH fairly easily and hold tool face. Once I drop to vertical, I usually knock the edges off and she slows down to around 100 FPH rotating. 6 3/4" Wenzel, 7/8 5.7 stage, .24 RPG, bent at 2.12* 585 GPM, 2500 off bottom, 400-500 Diff. Security FMRX563ZM, 8 3/4" Actually, we have drilled from 1850' to 7422' (5572'), including dropping to Vert. from 30* in the last 38 Hrs. Thats good, even for us! Western Rockies, CO. Oh, I LOVE deep fried Turkeys!! Last edited by thatguy; 11-27-2009 at 02:53 PM. |

30* Hole is 10,635' MD. 40* We did last week was 11,370' MD. I think I jinxed myself on the last post! As SOON as I posted the CV broke in the motor, I just came back down. It is an experimental motor with a Wenzel Power section and a fixed bend at 1.5* BUT only 18" bit to bend. Think was kicking butt and just snapped out of no where. POOH for motor and Bit. ![]() ![]() ![]() No beads ran at all, no lube unless 40* or more, or Torque over 27K. (TJ torque on this pipe) And I love deep fried turkeys!
