    Default Repairing the uneveness

We decided to use an epoxy faring compound to "straighten out" the inner edges of the stringers so we wouldn't distort the rails ,Josh did this using the inner rails as forms This stringers were roughed upp and masked ,epoxy applied and let cure between the stringers and aluminum rails

The epoxy was then coated with Black pigmented resin

    Tom -

Couple questions, my stringers are the same way....what causes the indentations?

How stong in the fairing coupound you used? Structurally is this more of a cosmetic deal?

Did you remove the rails before the epoxy cured or what did you do so it would stick?

    Thanks

Hi Pete how ya been , hope you Folks warm up soon ! On Tommys boat the stringers had been previously repaired , but some boats depending on the stringer glass work are simply not straight , the Idea here was to simply fill the small voids to keep from distorting the rails and yes for cosmetics as well, Josh used wax/release agent and the actual stringers as a "form" the actual rails were clamped in place and then removed after the epoxy kicked to check, smooth and gel coat . As epoxy has no real structure anything beyond a very small divot would not be acceptable. The actual product we used for faring was Interlux Tom

    Default some progress!

Final fitting before the powder coating "our "Mock block" and mock pan is a little bulky but it works!

Knotching/milling the plates that "run wild" over the stringers

    Looks awesome, Tom!

Sorry I have been off-line for a while, looking out at the beach from our balcony in Hawaii!!

(Sold the hydro, so I charged up this trip, and actually might be able to pay you guys!)

I knew one stringer had work done before, and some of the "dents" where there from over tightening the "feet" for the 4 points by a previous owner.

Any trouble with the starter clearances??
    Tommy

    I get that a lot!!

That is an Eagle neutral balance forging and their "good" H beams with cap screws.
    Stock stroke and bore. (.030)
The Eagle kit with SRP's was only like $1,500.00 or so.

We will be in Frisco in the 7th, and can be at the shop on Tuesday morning, the 8th?
    Thanks again!
    Tommy

No trouble, i relieved the rail a little to give the starter some breathin room. It probably would have cleared by a hair, but it wouldn't have left any room to work on it. I also relieved a touch for the oil filter on the opposite side, again it probably would have cleared but not by much.
