That's a little confusing... Oh, do you mean fuel LINE is rubber....OK, you're close to "No Man's land" there in ND, but there might be someone in your area... Tell you what, haul it down here to the river and I'll be glad to give you a hand...... You may know this, but if you invert the bowl, bottom up top, and set the float "top side" parallel to the top of the bowl, now on the bottom, you're done with float settings. A tiny piece of "sheared" rubber in the needle is easy to get if any of the hose barb fittings have sharp edges.. I've lost track of where this thread has gone, I'll review it later and see if I can add anything constructive....

PS Here at the river we're suffering from an early April heatwave. Mid to upper 80s, with a couple of days into the low 90s. Cooling this weekend to mid 70s Saturday, and mid 80s on Sunday....So....C'mon down, we'll get those carbs dialed right in!!!

Do you have a valve to cut the gas off to the pump? If so cut it off and crank till it starts! If the plugs are soked hold it wide open till it fires up! Then open valve and see if the flooding has stoped!
SOMEONE SAID YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU! SO,IM BURNING IT UP ONE GALLON AT A TIME!

WFL Crew!!!
Did you pull the plugs on fuel bowls to check level?? Is level too high/fuel dripping out vent tubes or boosters?? IF not could be many things, bad/old fuel (you said it wasn't running right before you rebuilt carb). Bad spark or timing (you say it pops once and then won't fire up). Got to find out where the excess fuel is coming from or if it is some other problem. Just trying to help you out.
i had the same thing make sure your gaskets are corect mine were wrong but looked the same and it did the same thing mine was on the meterining plate
Do you have the one with idle mixture screws on the Primary/front side of the carb?? As I recall those floats are spring assisted at the mounting plate, (center hung floats), are the springs there?.. Has the carb backfired, even once, since it was installed? If it has, you may have blown the Power Valve already..... BUT, from what you're saying, you've got an extreme case of excessive fuel in places it doesn't belong.... Also, did you compare the new metering block gaskets to the ones that came off? OR the new P/V donut gasket, there are two types. What other changes, if any, have you made? Like a different f/pump, or regulator, or ???

PS It might be a good idea to change your oil before going out on the water. Gas is a piss poor lubricant, and your oil may very well be polluted....

Bite the bullet and go see Johnny at C & J Engineering it will be the best money you`ll ever spend! My Dad and I have been going there for years and no complaints. The best thing is when you just let the fuel pump fill the carbs and hit the key she`ll come to live without pumping the pedal or holding the gas after she fires or adjusting anything after it idles on its own...
Johnny is the best and is very willing to help and explain how all this stuff works for all of us retards out there that like to go fast!
Wow i appreciate all the feedback!! Sorry im not so smart when it comes to carbs. I do have the carb with the idle mixture screws on the Primary/front side of the carb. The engine has not backfired since i rebuilt it and i did not match up the metering valve gaskets. There is no valve on the fuel pump but will have to put one on. Looks like i got a big list of things to try already! the boat is at the lake and i will not be there for a few weeks. But i will let you guys know how i make out.
Thanks for the comments about C&J guys! There's a lot of people that can tune a carb, but I'm a bit biased and feel my Pop's is one of the best.

The hardest part of rebuilding someone's carb is not having the boat/car there to evaluate when you're done. Shipping one out, and hoping everything is correct always causes a little anxiety. There aren't that many people out there that can hit the tune up from long distance....

C&J no questions! my dad spares no expense on his shit and only goes there, and on my boat carb, it was running horribly... sent it to him with some motor specs and got if back, boat runs better than ever... worth the money to have it done right!! even if you can dial it in yourself to run ok, your probably still leaving 20% on the table
