don't forget oil in the bowl. alot of guy's (myself included) put nipples on the bowl and replace the oil with grease
i have heard the same , about adding grease to the bowl.. do you fill it with the same stuff you pump in the bearing... and do you just fill it up till it comes out the other side ??
i don't know what u used. I use penz. red stuff. nipple on one side ,plug on the other , pump er till it comes out clean ,once at the begining of the season ,maybe again say aug.
I do the same on my bowl....red n tacky. I use it in all areas; wheel bearings, thrust bearing, steering tube and bowl.

super thanks guys red n tacky it is good info![]()
I agree with Tom here... I never could figure out why people put grease in a Berkeley bowl, unless it has been converted. Oil lubes better and curculates thru the bearings keeping them cooler( thats what the two little holes are for behind the bowl sea)l. Not only that but bowls designed for grease have an inside E clip to keep the seal from blowing out when you pump in the grease. I know I am going to get flak for my O2 but Berk and Legend bowls are designed for oil....use it if you can... Jim
does the oil or grease lube a bearing or a brass bushing?
No "bearing" in there just a bushing. And here's why I do NOT use grease > the bowl will never get hot enough to liquefy the grease...once that shaft starts spinning the grease won't be where it's needed, and that's (IF) it ever got between the bushing and shaft in the first place (doubtful) > oil flows between the shaft and bushing
And no need for high $$$$ synthetic gear oils there, heck the cheapest gear oil or even thick straight 50wt oil will do.![]()
I put a zerk on one side and slowly filled till it came out the other hole.
